BeST Ltd was originally registered with Companies House as a Housing Association “Not for Profit Organisation” Ltd by Guarantee (07375502) in September 2010 and attained charitable status with the Charities Commission (1143046) in July 2011. We attained Registered Provider status with the HCA in June 2012 (4718). We are specialists in providing accommodation for vulnerable people. We provide accommodation for vulnerable adults from various client groups including adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairment, mental health needs, mothers fleeing domestic abuse and adults who are homeless.
We can provide potential tenants with the choice of property and area, tailored to their needs and choices, whether that is to live close to family and friends; in integrated communities with good transport links/close to social activities. We can adapt homes to meet the needs of tenants and provide 24hr quality repairs and maintenance.
We currently have properties fully tenanted and are acquiring in further areas throughout England, Scotland and Wales. We can acquire land and build to an exact specification or source and purchase any property in any area for the purpose of providing accommodation to vulnerable people in area’s specified by Strategic Housing Teams and Domiciliary Support Providers in areas of need.
Day to day Support for any vulnerable individual will be provided by a nominated industry specialist not ourselves, we will provide support in regards to tenancy and housing management related matters with the support provider undertaking some of this work on our behalf. To confirm we are a Housing Provider with no connection to a Support Provider, however we will work in partnership with any nominated Support Provider.
As the Care Quality Commission (White Paper 2001 Valuing People) raised concerns that the Support Provider should not also act as “Landlord” due to a potential conflict of interests, we provide a cost effective Housing Management / Landlord solution for companies who have historically undertaken this dual function as well as resourcing tenancies through the general housing market.
We also have the infrastructure to carry out emergency 24 hr repairs to our properties.
We will work in partnership with Local Authorities, Support Providers, Families and Tenants to provide a bespoke housing service as well as aiming to achieve new benchmarks for Housing Provision for vulnerable people.
